About Me

Hi, I’m Jessica and I’m so glad you’ve stopped by!  I work in the finance industry by day and by night I’m usually wielding a sewing machine, paint brush or staple gun.  I have a fantastic husband, Ryan, and sweet pup, Lucy, who cheer me on and support/put up with my endless projects, fabric samples and big ideas.

We moved to Marion, IL  from Atlanta, GA in August 2013 and we have loved every minute of our old home ownership journey.  My love affair with old homes is nothing new, as a child I always dreamed of living in a big, old home with secret doors and passageways.  Finding our house was a true act of God; we were on our one and only house hunting trip to the area and had already looked at 8 houses that Saturday.  We linked up with some new friends (now very dear friends) and they decided to drive us to our last home appointment.  On the way to the last house, they drove us down the most beautiful brick street lined with homes built in the late 1800s.  I saw our house with a for sale by owner sign in the yard and at that instant, I knew I had found my dream home.

I’ve always been creative and loved painting and sprucing a space up, but I didn’t realize how much work it would take to get my decor to a place where I am visually pleased when I walk into each room (I’m still working on this)!  I’ve learned so many new things and tried projects I never would have if it weren’t for other blogs.  This blog is my small attempt to share the love and pass on my project wins (and flops) to other aspiring DIYers.  Although I’m constantly creating and taking on new projects, my creations, just like myself, are far from perfect.  However, I find beauty in the flaws, laugh off my imperfections, and often learn valuable lessons for my next projects!  Join me on my “not so perfect” journey of renovating our new (old) home!
