Cute Upstairs Bedroom

I am so excited about how this bedroom turned out!

Here are a few before shots.

DSC_0246 DSC_0245 DSC_0244Cute but the curtains covered up the windows and the border wall paper was too 80s.  Although, I actually liked the tulip tree wallpaper, I figured get rid of it all while I’m at it.

I used my trusted technique of NOT removing wallpaper and just painting over it.

As I mentioned this room was decorated around our recent trip to India.

The room décor was inspired by the bedding we purchased during our trip.  Check out the neat process of block stamping here.

So cute, right?!

I made the bolster and pom-pom pillows from fabric I purchased in Paducah.

I added a few pictures from our trip above the desk for a little more India influence.

And how cute is the dresser with the light above it?!  The dresser fits perfectly in the little nook as you enter the bedroom.

We scored the desk, dresser, mattresses and nightstand from a nursing home that was closing down.  The beds were free from a good friend.

Originally I was planning on making a bench seat cushion behind the beds but that was a little too ambitious considering we have guest coming on Saturday.

I am super excited about how this room turned out!

  • Guest Room Refresh Hi!  I have been hard at work getting our upstairs bedrooms refreshed before we have guests visit next week.  First, let me share the before photos of the south side bedroom. YIKES, that blue ceiling! It’s funny, this room has become the room of “island of misfit furniture” 🙂 Reminds you of Rudolf, right? All [...]
  • It’s All About The Little Thing... So our house is old, like really old, and has had plenty of facelifts over the years (and let’s face it, updates still need to be done). The back half of our home (the kitchen, powder room and Ryan’s office) is probably the most recent area to receive a huge remodel.   The previous owners did a FANTASTIC job with [...]

  • Craigslist Brass Console Table “... I had been searching for the prefect console table for the piano/front room.  The piano room is a difficult space because it doubles as an entryway/piano room which is strange for a Victorian not to have a grand entryway.  Our neighbors informed us that one of the previous owners of the house still lives in [...]
